Ytri Vik cottages
About this stay
Ytri Vik sits further up the Eyjafjordur shore than most of the stays booked under Svalbardseyri, closer in practice to the fishing village of Hauganes and its geothermal Beach Baths than to Akureyri across the water. The eight-minute taxi ride to those baths makes a soak-then-sleep routine easy, and the property's own hot tub covers the nights when a second trip out feels like too much after a full day on Route 1. Rooms are pitched at families, with kid-friendly billing and free parking taking the stress out of arriving after dark with children still awake. The thirty-minute run to Akureyri Airport is the longest transfer among the fjord's cabin stock, a fair trade for the quieter, more coastal setting near Hauganes rather than the busier roads closer to town.
